With his latest mixtape releases The Crush Groovin’ and More Than Music, this guy is showing the world some love. Both tapes were promoted by illRoots, not to mention a slew of other big hip-hop blogs. His signature vibe is inspired by classic funk and groove records mixed with smooth beats, which are like food for your soul. Nefarious! Interview w/ Beatwizemusic.blogspot.com

Another interview I did with the homie Beatwize for his blog over at BeatwizeMusic.blogspot.com. He also featured me this week and posted up alot of my past work so make sure you check that out also.

bannnnnerrr

So now you’ve heard of Nefarious!, heard his songs, and gotten to know him a little better. But there’s still so much you don’t know about the kid. He’s talented, intelligent, and definitely has a bright future. Hell, he’s been featured on more than 4 sites this week! Keep an eye on the name, you’ll definitely hear a lot of it soon. Here’s my chance to let you learn more about my boy Nef. Check it out!

Beatwize: What’s good Nefarious! Let’s start with a quick bio of you..

Nefarious!: My name is Nefarious! from Hayward, California. I’m 18 years old and one of many Bay Area beat makers representing the new generation of producers. I enjoy long walks on the beach and…

Beatwize: Lmao, yea good place to stop. Tell us about you’re newest album “More Than Music” and what went behind it? (inspirations, people etc.)

Nefarious!: I was inspired to make More Than Music by people that dont understand that music is very serious to some of us. Especially beats to me. Someone who isn’t a producer might see a beat as just a beat and wonder where the rapping is, and others appreciate it for what it is. So this album was for those people.

Beatwize: It seems that it has given you some great exposure, you’ve been getting features left and right. How does it feel to get this sudden rise in recognition?

Nefarious!: It feels good, like people are finally getting onto my shit. If no one hears your music it doesn’t matter if it sounds good or not because you are just another tree falling in the forrest. Before I knew how much blogs make a difference I used to drop everything just on MySpace, but making connections with blogs and shit increased the download numbers drastically.

Download More Music

AGM:Lets start off, with an introduction. Who is Nefarious?

Nefarious!:Nefarious! is an 18 year old producer from the Bay Area who is addicted to Sunny D and soul records.

AGM:Nefarious!, thats an interesting name. What was the inspiration behind that name?

Nefarious!:Well, before I made beats I was a (wack) rapper who rapped about pretty much everything wrong with Hip-Hop today. -even though alot of what I was saying I wasn’t really down with. And in high school I cut class alot, and one of the few days I did go to class “nefarious” was one of the vocabulary words. It means evil or wicked, so at the time, it fit with what I rapped about. Eventually I took up making beats, and I never changed my name. So I’m stuck with it, even if its definition doesn’t suit me anymore.

Nefarious! Interview w/ MyLifeMyHipHop.com

Here’s yet another interview I did with Probz who writes over at MyLifeMyHipHop.com promoting my More Than Music instrumental album. Check it out.

Nefarious! Only 18, hailing out Hayward, California. The album is a fresh and unique dope collection of  Nefarious’s instrumentals. From the acoustic bass lines to the punchy drums, to the beautiful snares Nefarious really captured the soul of every sample. Just listen for your self and you defiantly will like it. Enjoy.

Where did the name “Nefarious” originate from?
The name Nefarious! originated from me when I started out as a rapper. I sucked. *laughs* I used to rap about what everybody else rapped about, money, girls, drugs, and a ton of other shit I wasn’t really about and activities I never participated in. I went to school one day and it was a vocabulary word, and it just fit my obsession with being bad. Fortunately I grew out of it, quit rapping, and became a nice dude. The name stays though.
For those who don’t know, what is Cosmic Souls Collective? And what does it represent?
The Cosmic Souls Collective is a group of four producers: Know:Juander, Time Travel, Juno Complex, and myself. We are just on a mission to produce good music. Our styles are different but when we come together… we have been called the Slaughterhouse of production *laughs*.
