Exclusive: Fly is Made for Lovers Mix

So I get these requests ALL the time; you know the kind. The kind that I figured a Premo or a Madlib or 9th Wonder would get: “…where you do you get your samples from? Can you hook me up with some dope samples…” I feel like sometimes, much of the art form of making beats is not even in the sample. It’s in the pursuit of something else. You ultimately end up either spending a few dollars on vinyl or you download something just to experience it at face value. You end up with something special. Well that’s the fairy tale take of it. Of course you could always (before you ask) try to find something that you can make totally yours. It has no influence, no bias point of views, and won’t make you feel obligated to do anything other than enjoy the experience of real, soulful music. And even with a point of view as strong as that, I also feel that somethings are so good… they are worth sharing. Some people are going to hear what I hear; other will dismiss the mix as something used to fill up blog space. I feel like what you are about to embark on is beautiful; simply put. Whether you just listen to it while cleaning the crib, or try to use it in place of a very old and very scratched “baby making music” CD, or whether you rip the sound waves into seventy-five samples chopped… you will enjoy what Fly is Made. Check for it at the jump.

Rob Yung – What Happened To The Real?

New track by Rob Yung. I have to say he impressed me with this one. Shit’s ill. Make sure you check out his website at 1mic1life.com. This is what he had to say about it (in 3rd person LOL!):

This track is written/recorded/engineered by Rob Yung, a New York native MC. Being a major underground hiphop head! In this track he explains his point of view of how things used to be back in the good ol’ days! Now the question is.. What did happen to the real?

Shlohmo – Shlo-Fi EP

Download it.

What Error Broadcast had to say:

From across the misty hills of San Francisco, we welcome kid Shlohmo with his long-awaited Shlo-Fi EP for release at Error Broadcast. His instant-classic Shlomoshun EP made faces fall earlier this year but this one will boost the cat to a whole new level.

19-years old Shlohmo delivers the soundtrack for the LA aftershow party. His tracks swarm from dirty textures, strange sounds and obscured samples. It’s not Hip Hop what you hear, but the echoes are clearly there: under the blanket the beats are alive and kicking, the compression is awful (as we love it) and from the way Shlohmo arranges his tracks, it is clear what this kid listens to at night.

Solanaceous and surreal music from the point Burial and Fly Lo let off.

Rob Yung x Lennon – Commercial Break

Here’s a new track from Rob Yung and Lennon who produced Zip It for BC. They’re dope. Lennon is producing a few tracks from Rob Yung’s EP. Peep the track below and hit them up because I said so. Word.

Hawdwerk & Jansport J – High Power Moves

It’s finally here. They refused to do a midnight release, but it was well worth it. Hawdwerk and Jansport J have been working hard on promoting this album and putting it together for months. So make sure you download it. My favorite tracks would have to be Fly As Me or Computer. Click here to download the album for free via MediaFire. Hit more for the back cover.
